Damien Holbert’s latest venture complements Brooklyn’s current vibe for communal, creative and eclectic institutions. Holbert, who previously ran a men’s and women’s clothing store in Las Vegas, is now renting booths (by the day or month) to designers, artists and entrepreneurs within his vintage- and custom-furniture shop, Solomon Square Furniture & Interior Solutions. He also hosts “Me’Kasa” First Fridays, held on the first Friday of every month (6–10pm), which serve as an open house for prospective new vendors and customers to meet and mingle. Look for former stylist Suzette Lavalle (suzettelavalle.com), who sells affordable accessories such as aviator shades ($22); pastel angora berets with removable pom-poms ($24); ’60s-inspired faux-fur bucket hats ($39); knit scarves ($24); and vegan bags embellished with delicate metal strings, studs and tassels ($38–$46). She shares her space with photographer Evan Morris Cohen (heynicecamera.blogspot.com), who sells framed vintage-looking photographs of New York architectural landmarks ($40–$60). Score a print of the Flatiron Building taken with 40-year-old film ($40), or pay homage to the borough of Kings with an epic shot of the Brooklyn Bridge ($40–$60).
